The law behind it

The Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022 — passed as part of the PACT Act — finally lets veterans, family members, and civilian workers who were exposed to the base’s contaminated water (August 1953–December 1987) file claims and even lawsuits for the harm it caused. That right had been blocked for years. Importantly, the lawsuit path has a limited filing window.

Why these claims get denied — and how to win

Camp Lejeune has two separate tracks: VA disability benefits, and a Camp Lejeune Justice Act claim/lawsuit for compensation. Many people miss the lawsuit deadline or fail to tie their diagnosis to the 30-day presence requirement. Because one track is litigation, getting qualified legal help early is critical — and time-sensitive.
